NASHUA – Great American Downtown announced that Becky Shaughnessy, of Nashua, won the Ultimate Downtown Shopping Experience gift basket containing more than $1,000 worth of gift cards and merchandise from more than 40 downtown businesses.
The contest began as part of the 2011 Winter Holiday Stroll. Shaughnessy said she and her family make a point of kicking off their holidays every year with the event.
“We wouldn’t miss it,” she said.
Shaughnessy said she entered the contest after being encouraged by a coworker. Presented the gift basket at Cardin Jewelers, Shaughnessy began using her gift cards immediately with the purchase of four beads for her bracelet.
“Our contest generated a lot of excitement downtown – both business owners and visitors alike couldn’t wait to find out who would get to take home the fabulous prize,” said Rebecca Dixon, of Great American Downtown.
Coordinated by Tim McMahon, of MCM Social Media, the contest took place on Facebook. To enter the drawing, contestants were invited to “like” participating businesses’s fan pages.
Chris Malloy, of Community Events, the stroll operations director, invited downtown merchants to donate.
“Downtown Nashua has a terrific community of business owners,” Malloy said. “All of the restaurants and retailers I spoke with were very receptive to the program.”
Participating businesses were Alec’s Shoes, Aubuchon Hardware, Beckonings, Bippity Boppity Baby and Burque Jewelers.

I presume the only thing missing from this awesome column is how you come up with Home Improvement. This is extremely important when someone from the zoning or housing board inspects the addition.
